Minimal Rustic White Christmas – Decorating for the Holidays

With Christmas only 17 days away, I thought I’d take a break from editing and all the holiday parties to write a more personal blog post.  I wanted to give all of you a glimpse on something that I absolutely love about this time of year…getting to decorate my place with lots of twinkling white lights and filling it with scents of fresh pine. This is the first time I’ve had a chance to decorate my space in my cozy little home in Florida (since last year I moved right before Xmas), so I was super pumped to infuse it with all things that make me think of a minimal rustic white Christmas. My space is pretty small, so I didn’t want it to make it look too much like December 25th exploded all over my one bedroom apartment. I decided the best way to do that was to keep it simple.

1 – Just a few colors – white, silver, gold & green
2 – Blend it with my current contemporary/minimal decor as best I could
3 – Engage other senses besides sight. Eg, – scented candles, fresh cut pine, soft blankets, jingling bells, wood grain

So come now and take a walk through my wintery wonderland…

I found this amazing fresh boxwood round wreath from West Elm to greet you at my door.

I attempted some holiday mistletoe chalk work on my chalkboard in my office area. (Thank you Pinterest! haha). The scent of fir & firewood comes from this absolutely yummy soy candle from Anthropologie. I added a few small touches to my leaning bookcase from Crate&Barrel.  Since my tiny place doesn’t have much room in the way of storage, I have just a 3 ft tree from Target decorated in twinkling white lights and lots of gold and silver ornaments & garland from Crate&Barrel.

And I’ve always been a bit obsessed with twine and kraft paper.

And so I’m ALWAYS trying to find a fun way to show off my holiday greeting cards and I found this Ornament-Photo Chandler and thought it was perfect! And something that I can use for decorating all year long. Now I just need to get some Xmas cards in the mail! Haha

So if you can’t tell…I love candles and I love fresh greenery! Thankfully this pine from my local Fresh Market seems to be doing just fine with my black thumbs. Haha.

They have a shop online, so definitely check them out! Their placemats are super cute too!

And of course I need stockings! Didn’t have a fireplace for Santa at this apartment, so I’m leaving them by my front windows for him to stuff. 😉 The copper Merry Christmas garland is from Target.

And I use this super soft knit blanket from IKEA all year long, but it’s especially nice on these cooler winter evenings.

I had some leftover pine and some antique soda bottles from Anthropologie, so I added some greenery to my white & grey bathroom on the window ledge.

And lastly, just a quick glimpse into my boudoir. I decided to keep it minimal since most of the time my eyes are shut here, but I added a few pieces.

So now that I’ve decorated, who’s cooking and bringing over the holiday ham? I’m ready for some holiday celebrations in my home! 😉 Haha.

Happy Holidays!
