Lyla’s Child Portrait Session – Downtown Chagrin Falls

So I’m going to be completely honest….sometimes when you are photographing toddlers, it’s not always that easy. You want them to look at you, they want to run the other direction. You ask them to go play “pose” here, they decide to go there. They are learning to become independent little people. And let me tell you, Lyla gave me a little run for my money. Haha. We started the session picking out candy at the Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop, found the perfect lollypop and not long after that we had the great “lollypop fiasco of 2014”, where Miss Lyla managed to get it completely tangled and stuck in her hair. Oops! And while we had a few tears as we were working to get it out, I couldn’t help but giggle a little bit. This IS the essence of the life of a 2-year-old. It’s pulling sticky candy out of their hair. It’s running around with endless energy that I only wish I could have still. It’s counting down at the top of your lungs from the top of the slide before you soar on down. It’s living life without a care in the world except to explore and have fun. It’s also finishing a session with a big bowl of yummy ice cream from Jeni’s! And I love capturing that. This is why I love doing lifestyle sessions over posed studio sessions. While they may not always go perfectly, life’s not meant to be perfect and I want to be able to capture those imperfect moments that still manage to make your heart whole. 🙂 So here’s a few (or a lot) of my favorites from Lyla’s session. I love working with her and her parents and I can’t wait until the next session!
