“I am so beautiful, sometimes people weep when they see me. And it has nothing to do with what I look like really, it is just that I gave myself the power to say that I am beautiful, and if I could do that, maybe there is hope for them too. And the great divide between the beautiful and the ugly will cease to be. Because we are all what we choose.” – Margaret Cho
That quote right there is what I hope to give with this beauty portrait contest that I posted about in my last blog entry. And with these beauty portrait sessions. I want the women around me to know how beautiful they are and to feel beautiful. And can I just say WOW!! I have been blown away by the response to this contest. It makes my heart full to read the wonderful email entries I received and to also see many of those same women spreading the word about the contest…even though that meant a lesser odd of them winning it.
I found that many of the women that entered told me that they felt beautiful they are with their children whom look up to them. Or when their significant other tells them how beautiful they look or what a wonderful mother they are. Those compliments hold such power to them. Many told me it’s when they get time to get dolled up. Some told me when they are completing a tough workout…they feel strong and ready to take on the world. But I personally think the biggest thing that can help us to feel beautiful it to allow ourselves to accept the unique beauty that was given to us and to remind ourselves frequently about this beauty that we behold.
But anywhoooo….I know you are all anxiously awaiting the announcement of the winner. 😉 Boy, was this ever a tough decision! If only I were rich and could let you all win. Haha. But I ultimately chose….
Well, actually it is her mother that will win the free beauty portrait session. See, the reason Amber’s entry stood out was because she chose to selflessly nominate her mother:
“I would love to nominate my mom. She would never think to do something like this for herself, which is why she deserves it. She is turning 60 on February 28th and frankly, I can’t think of anyone that deserves it more than her. Within the past 6 years she has endured emotional, mental, and physical strains that have forced her to grow as a person and independent woman. And she has forgiven those who have betrayed her and our family, where I never will be able to. She’s a better person than I ever will be. She’s stronger than she realizes, she’s more beautiful than she realizes. She needs to physically see it.”
Serious heart melting with that entry! I cannot wait to work with this very special woman! And for the rest of you that entered & didn’t win, NEVER FEAR! I still have a special Valentine’s Day treat that will be hitting your email inboxes before the end of the day! 😉
And because I can’t have a post without a photo…here’s an iPhone photo of a one of my favorite flowers…isn’t she beautiful? 😉
