Jennifer messaged me back in the middle of summer to let me know she was interested in having some portraits taken with her 16-year-old daughter on the beach. You see, her daughter is her “heart & soul” and they have quite the special bond. Maddie was heading off to a residential high school a few hours away from, and these South Carolina gals planned a trip to the beaches of St Pete for one last hurrah before she departed. Jennifer thought it would be sweet and reminiscent to get some beach photos while they were here in town, as they had some done back when Maddie was just 2-years-old at a beach in Destin. I absolutely adored this idea, and was so happy to fulfill this wish. And how perfect is it, to be able to capture that bond between a mama and her girl with some soft, dreamy photos at the beach at sunset?! So that is exactly what we did! We headed over to one of my favorite shorelines to shoot at…Fort De Soto. These two were just naturals in front of the camera! Sometimes, you never know what you will get from teenagers for family portraits, but Maddie did great! You could just see how much they loved and adored each other, as we traipsed around the pier and the ruins of the Fort and then continued on to the North Beach. So much warmth and connection between the two. We ended up with some gorgeous, ethereal images, that I’m sure she will cherish forever. Definitely a family session that ranks high as one of my favorites! Check out some of the highlights from this mother daughter session below. Enjoy!
